01 · The challenge

Business buyers were already on the listings.

A school buying 24 stack chairs and a shopper buying one land on the same Amazon listing. The school is signed into Amazon Business, Amazon's store for registered organizations, and it sees whatever the seller has set up for that audience: a business price, quantity tiers, or nothing.

This manufacturer makes the furniture institutions buy. Stack chairs by the five pack, folding training tables, activity tables for classrooms, banquet sets, drafting chairs and marker boards. It has sold through Bison since 2012 and received its first Amazon Business order through us in 2019. Its catalog with us runs to about 4,000 live Amazon listings.

In 2023, business buyers placed 897 orders through those listings. Those orders were about 30% of the manufacturer's sales with us, and four in ten of them carried two or more pieces.

Business buyers placed 4,250 orders for the manufacturer's furniture on Amazon Business across 2023, 2024 and 2025.

02 · The channel

Business buyers see their own price on the same listing.

A registered business account on Amazon gets its own view of a product page. The buyer sees a business price that consumers never see, a discount that steps down with quantity (on the manufacturer's listings at 2, 5, 10 and 15 pieces), and the pay-by-invoice terms and purchase approvals that procurement teams use.

Amazon's seller help page on business prices and quantity discounts says a discount of 3% or more off the standard price may qualify an order for a reduced referral fee.

46% of the manufacturer's business orders in 2024 were for two or more pieces. The order lines point to schools, restaurants and offices: five packs of band chairs and height-adjustable activity tables, banquet sets, drafting chairs and conference tables.

None of it exists until the seller sets it. A listing with no business offer shows the buyer the consumer price and a quantity box, and a purchasing officer pricing 24 chairs compares that against a competing listing that steps its price down at 10.

03 · The pricing

A business price on 4,055 of 4,058 listings, quantity tiers on 955.

Bison is the single seller on the manufacturer's Amazon listings, so the Amazon Business offer is ours to set. Our pricing engine writes a business price onto each listing and, where a product carries a discount ladder, a quantity plan next to it, with the price stepping down at 2, 5, 10 and 15 pieces.

The steps are banded by each product's margin. A product in the 15% margin band steps down 5%, 7%, 8% and 10% at those four quantities. A thinner band steps down less.

The plans are re-sent whenever a cost or the consumer price moves. Today 4,055 of the 4,058 live listings carry a business price and 955 carry quantity tiers, 876 of them in stock.

The catalog is also enrolled in Amazon's Industry Vertical Pricing program, which shows a sharper price to vetted buyers in a specific industry, such as a school purchasing office.

We have not isolated which of these levers moved the 2025 number. The business offer, the vertical pricing and the catalog breadth all sat on the listings that year, and the figures below are what those listings did.

04 · The catalog

692 different products sold to business buyers in 2025.

Bison writes the listing content across the catalog so each product can be found and compared on the facts a procurement search filters by: dimensions, weight capacity, pack size and finish, in the title and the first bullets.

The number of distinct products that business buyers purchased rose from 459 in 2023 to 486 in 2024 and 692 in 2025: 233 more products with at least one business order than two years earlier.

05 · The results

Multi-piece orders carried $863,000 of the $1.1 million.

Amazon Business orders went from 1,114 in 2024 to 2,239 in 2025. Sales on the channel went from about $640,000 to just over $1.1 million, up 73%. Two years earlier the channel had done about $450,000 for the manufacturer.

Units rose 63%, from 3,762 to 6,150, while orders doubled, so the average order carried fewer pieces: 2.7 in 2025 against 3.4 in 2024. Amazon Business was 37% of the manufacturer's sales with us in 2025, from 30% in 2023.

Of the 2,239 orders, 691 were for 2 to 4 pieces of one product, 200 for 5 to 9, 104 for 10 or more, and 19 mixed several products: 1,014 orders, 45% of the total, with two or more pieces.

Those 1,014 orders carried $863,000 of the $1.1 million, and the largest single order was 175 pieces of one product. The multi-piece share held near 45% while the order count doubled, so the bulk orders and the single-piece orders grew in step.

Multi-piece orders held near 45% of Amazon Business orders in 2024 and 2025 but carried fewer pieces each: about 6.2 in 2024 and 4.9 in 2025.

06 · The mix

533 of the 1,125 added orders were under $250.

The average business order was $495 in 2025, down from $576 the year before. Orders under $250 rose by 533 between 2024 and 2025, and orders of $250 or more by 592. Single-piece orders averaged $200 against $234 in 2024.

One product among them: a 5 by 3 foot magnetic marker board took 48 business orders in 2025, 42 of them for a single board.

In 2025, 131 business buyers ordered from the manufacturer more than once, and between them they placed 314 of the 2,239 orders.

07 · The objection

A tier changes only the business price.

A supplier's first question is whether a quantity tier cuts the price on every sale. It does not. On Amazon the tiers attach only to the business offer. The consumer price on the same listing is a separate field and does not move.

The discount is also sized to the product. In the 15% margin band a 10-piece order gets 8% off, and because that clears Amazon's 3% threshold the order may qualify for the reduced referral fee on business orders.

08 · Your numbers

Two counts to run this week.

If your products are bought by schools, offices or restaurants, pull your Amazon Business orders for the last twelve months and count how many had two or more pieces. On the manufacturer's listings the share was 40% in 2023, 46% in 2024 and 45% in 2025, while the order count doubled in the last of those years.

Then count how many of your Amazon listings carry a business price and how many carry quantity tiers. This supplier's catalog carries a business price on all but three listings and tiers on about a quarter of them. Bison sets a business price on every listing it runs and tiers wherever the product's margin band carries a discount ladder.

All figures are from Bison Commerce's order records for 2023 to 2025, with the listing counts from our pricing engine, and are presented anonymized.
